Understanding Functional Medicine

What it is, who provides it, and how it's different.

What is functional medicine?

Functional medicine is a root-cause approach to care. Instead of matching a symptom to a prescription, it asks why the problem is happening, using a full history and detailed lab work to find the drivers. At Healing Advanced Solutions we use it to build a plan around your whole clinical picture. There is a full explainer on our resources page.

Are functional medicine doctors MDs?

Not always. Functional medicine is practiced by MDs, DOs, nurse practitioners, and other licensed clinicians who add functional-medicine training on top of their medical license. At Healing Advanced Solutions, care is led by Catherine Seidle, APRN, a certified functional medicine practitioner who practiced in intensive care before focusing on root-cause medicine.

How is functional medicine different from conventional medicine?

Conventional medicine is excellent at acute problems and tends to match a diagnosis to a treatment. Functional medicine spends more time on the history and testing to find why a chronic problem started, then works on that root cause. The two are meant to work together, which is why we coordinate with your regular doctor rather than replace them.

Getting Started

Booking, referrals, and first steps.

How do I book an appointment?

Start with a free consultation. Use the booking button or call us, tell us a little about what you are dealing with, and our team follows up by the next business day to set up your visit. There is no online self-scheduling yet. A short human conversation makes sure you land in the right place first.

Is the free consultation really free?

Yes. It is ten to fifteen minutes by phone or video with our team, meant to find out whether we are the right fit.

Do I need a referral to be seen?

No. You can book a consultation directly. If your situation calls for a specialist, we will tell you, and we are glad to work alongside the providers you already have.

Can you work alongside my current doctor?

Yes, and we prefer to. We coordinate with your primary care and specialists rather than replacing them, and we never change a medication without your prescriber.

Visits & What to Expect

How visits work, and where to find us.

What happens at a first visit?

It starts with the free consultation to confirm fit. From there, the functional medicine path is a 75-minute evaluation: your full history from birth to present, your goals, and the testing that fits your case, with the time set aside to cover all of it.

Are visits in person or virtual?

The free consultation is by phone or video. Evaluations, lab draws, and treatments happen at our Jacksonville office. Ask us about virtual follow-ups, and we will tell you what fits your care.

Can I just walk in?

For quick services like IV therapy or a vitamin shot, a walk-in is usually fine the same day, and a heads-up call is always appreciated so we can have you in and out. For evaluations and programs, book a consultation first so we can give you the time they deserve.

Where are you, and what are your hours?

We are at 11555 Central Parkway, Suite 804, Jacksonville, FL 32224. Our hours are Monday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed Friday through Sunday. You can reach us at (904) 373-1661.

Testing & Records

Lab work and paperwork.

Do you run your own lab work?

Most panels are drawn right in our office, and results are read against both standard and functional ranges, then reviewed with you one-on-one. Some specialized tests are sent out, and we will tell you which is which.

Can I get an itemized receipt or superbill?

Yes, on request. Care here is HSA and FSA eligible, and an itemized receipt lets you submit to your plan or spending account yourself.

Cost & Insurance

The essentials. Full detail lives on pricing.

Do you take insurance?

No. We are cash-pay, which buys longer visits and keeps an insurance company out of your care decisions. Care is HSA and FSA eligible, and financing through Affirm is available for larger plans. Full pricing is posted on our pricing page.

How much does care cost?

Every price is posted. You can read the visit fees, program costs, and posted service ranges on our pricing page before you ever walk in.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Yes. Care at Healing Advanced Solutions is HSA and FSA eligible, and we provide an itemized receipt on request.
