Root-Cause Care · Functional Lab Testing

Same blood, different read.

Healing Advanced Solutions offers functional lab testing in Jacksonville, FL: comprehensive panels drawn in office, read against functional ranges, and reviewed with you one-on-one by Catherine Seidle, APRN.

Most lab reports answer one question: are you inside the range? Ours answer the one you actually asked: why do I feel like this?

Who this is for.

  • Your annual labs came back normal, and you feel anything but.
  • You want numbers, not reassurance.
  • You have a stack of results nobody has ever connected together.

Testing is where root-cause care starts.

The reframe

Normal is an average. It isn't a goal.

Standard reference ranges are built from the population that gets tested, which includes plenty of people who are unwell and don't know it yet. Sitting inside the range means you are statistically common, nothing more. Functional ranges are narrower bands associated with feeling and functioning well, and we read every result, from a single functional blood test to a full blood panel, against both. The gap between the two is often where the answer lives.

A schematic, deliberately unitless: the widths are illustrative, not a specific marker's numbers. Your review shows your actual values against both ranges.

The difference is interpretation, not secret tests: same certified labs your doctor uses, read with a different question in mind.

What we look at.

The Comprehensive Panel below is the core workup. Beyond it, we order additional testing only when it changes a decision, and quote it before anything is drawn.

Thyroid, the full picture

Not TSH alone. Thyroid symptoms with a normal TSH is one of the most common stories in this office.

Metabolic & blood sugar

Glucose and metabolic function from the CMP, with added markers like A1c when your picture calls for them. Insulin resistance shows up years before glucose does.

Inflammatory markers

Quiet, chronic inflammation underlies more symptom pictures than any single diagnosis.

Hormones, matched to your stage of life

A hormone panel that fits where you actually are: cycling, perimenopausal, postmenopausal, or male and tired of guessing.

Nutrient status

Micronutrient testing for the deficiencies that read as fatigue, brain fog, and low mood.

Hormone testing pairs naturally with our hormone optimization care.

How it works.

  1. Order

Testing is matched to your history, usually at a functional medicine evaluation, so every panel ordered has a reason attached.

  2. Draw

In office, most panels fasting. The exact prep is confirmed when your testing is ordered, so there is no guessing the night before.

  3. Review

A dedicated one-on-one visit: standard and functional ranges side by side, the pattern explained, and your plan updated from the data.

Common questions.

The things patients ask most.

Ask us anything
What is functional lab testing?

The same certified lab work your doctor orders, read differently. Standard reference ranges tell you whether a value is statistically common; functional ranges ask whether it sits where people feel well. We test more broadly, look at patterns across markers, and review every result with you one-on-one.

How is this different from the labs my doctor runs?

Three ways: breadth, interpretation, and time. A typical annual panel checks a handful of markers against standard ranges. We test wider, read results against both standard and functional ranges, and spend a dedicated visit walking you through what the pattern means, not a portal message that says all normal.

Can a lab value be normal and still be a problem?

Yes, and it happens constantly. Reference ranges are built from population statistics, which include plenty of people who are unwell but undiagnosed. A value can sit inside the standard range and still sit far from where you feel your best. That gap is exactly what functional ranges exist to catch.

Do I need to fast before my blood draw?

For most panels, yes, because fasting glucose and lipids read cleanest that way. We confirm the exact prep when your testing is ordered, so there is no guessing the night before.

What time of day should I schedule my blood draw?

Mornings are usually preferred. Hormones like testosterone and cortisol shift through the day, and several other markers read most reliably early. We confirm the timing that fits your panel when your testing is ordered.

Can I bring labs I already have?

Please do. We do not require labs to be drawn with us. Recent results from your primary care provider or a prior workup are useful data, and we will read them against functional ranges with you. If they cover what we need, you skip the draw and the cost of repeating it.

How much does lab testing cost, and does insurance cover it?

We are cash-pay and transparent: panel pricing is quoted before anything is drawn, testing is HSA and FSA eligible, and we order only tests that change decisions. We do not bill insurance.
